Based on a Nationally Accredited Course, the program is open to health care professionals, social workers, graduate or undergraduate nurses; enrolled nurses; nursing home or hostel personnel; carers; or for those who would like to volunteer for Hopewell Hospice Services and Paradise Kids.

This 26-hour course provides understanding, awareness and skills related to living and dying, and how to provide support, encouragement and care to someone who is dying or is bereaved. This program has an emphasis on personal development through gaining knowledge, skills and attitudes that assist in providing care for those who are dealing with the end stage of life. Palliative care takes into account the various domains of human functioning, including the physical, the emotional, the spiritual, the mental, the moral, the social and the aesthetic.

The training program will be conducted over three Saturdays and two Wednesday evenings:

Saturday 26 October, 2 and 9 November 2013, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday 30 October and 6 November 2013, 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
