LATA DAHYA MILNER, LLB
Lata obtained her Bachelor of Laws in New Zealand and has been admitted to practise as a Barrister and Solicitor in the High Court of New Zealand, is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland, Australia and is a Barrister and Solicitor of the National Court of Papua New Guinea.
In 2005 she was won the International Women’s Day Business Achievement Award for the Gold Coast, Australia. Lata has held positions as President of Soroptimist International, Director Gold Coat Film Festival, Legal Advisor to Chamber of Commerce, Lae, and was a Member of Rotary Club of Longmeadow, MD USA.
Lata has spent over 30 years in legal practice in New Zealand, Australia and Papua New Guinea specialising in commercial and corporate law.
Lata practised as in house legal advisor to Deloitte’s for a number of years in New Zealand before moving to PNG where she worked as a legal advisor to Talair the largest third level airline in the world. Lata subsequently opened her own Law office in Lae and practised there for ten years for major international corporations and the Prime Minister. In 2000 Lata moved to the Gold Coast of Australia and worked with Bell Legal Group before taking over the management of the commercial division of PRDnationwide Runaway Bay and Southport in 2003.
In 2007 Lata moved to the USA to be where she and her husband purchased the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Maryland. The business was sold in 2010 and Lata now resides on the Gold Coast.
Lata has been a Director of Hopewell Hospice and Paradise Kids since 2002 but took a short break whilst in the USA. In 2005 she was won the International Women’s Day Business Achievement Award for the Gold Coast, Australia. Lata has held positions as President of Soroptimist International, Director Gold Coat Film Festival, Legal Advisor to Chamber of Commerce, Lae, and was a Member of Rotary Club of Longmeadow, MD USA.
