My family was introduced to Paradise Kids and the Illness Support Program when our beautiful son Alec became terminally ill.

The seven-week program was flexible and was able to meet Alec and our family’s needs, which is valuable when we frequently had hospital visits. Alec and his buddy, Deniece, made a special friendship and she would do the program at our home or visit the hospital. After the program was completed, his buddy continued to visit and spend quality time with Alec. We are so grateful that Alec was able to participate and benefit from the much-needed program.

My daughter and stepson were also catered for with the sibling support program during their brother’s illness. They visited Paradise Kids for seven weeks and participated with other children who were experiencing a loss in their lives. This helped open the communication in our home about their feelings regarding their brother’s illness.

My stepson also did the Boys’ Program, which helped him express feelings of anger and hurt in the company of positive male role models. My daughter and stepson still talk about their volunteer buddies and Paradise Kids continues to support our family by offering them special outings and counselling if needed.”
